A number of clients\u00a0return year after year, making their vacation plans well in advance because they know that their loved one is being cared for by familiar nursing\u00a0staff in a comfortable and safe setting.<\/p>\n<p>A number of family members shared some concerns when, in the past, they had hired in-home caregivers, admitting that the arrangements were rarely satisfactory. Problems included: cancellations, no shows, and they sometimes feel that indeed when the staff did show up their loved one may have been neglected. Other concerns were that an unlicensed, untrained substitute would not know what to do in the event of an emergency. In some cases, family members who were not primary caregivers would &#8216;fill in&#8217;, which could cause feelings of resentment because of the &#8216;burden&#8217; of caring for mom or dad.<\/p>\n<p>Families and caregivers may go on a vacation, have medical issues themselves or a family emergency, work travel or other commitment. They need to know that their loved one is receiving mature, professional care. The staff at SPEC are equipped to act in the most appropriate manner necessary, especially if a medical emergency were to\u00a0arise.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage you to consider\u00a0our Respite\u00a0Care Program\u00a0when needed. SPEC is\u00a0also contracted with BayPath Elder Services and has been awarded a GRANT\u00a0to provide limited Respite Care free of charge for families who receive services through BayPath or reside in the geographic area serviced by Baypath. Sudbury Pines Extended Care only requires a 4 day minimum stay\u00a0(equal to\u00a0a long weekend).<\/p>\n<p>Sudbury Pines Extended Care Respite program provides:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>24 Hour\u00a0professional nursing<\/li>\n<li>Physician services<\/li>\n<li>Medication management<\/li>\n<li>A home-like atmosphere<\/li>\n<li>For a minimal fee, hairdressing.<\/li>\n<li>The safety and security of an inpatient setting or if needed, the additional security of a\u00a0specialty memory impairment\u00a0unit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Admissions to all programs will be dependent not only on the care needs of the patient involved, but the total care demands of our existing cases.
